Why Poverty still exist rampantly in Sabah?

The latest disclosure by the Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr . Abdul Latiff Ahmad as reported on 22 November 2008 in Borneo Post has proven once again that the failure of the BN Government in implementing poverty eradication programme in Sabah. He highlighted that Poverty has been identified as among the factors which contributed to the spread of diseases in Sabah, particularly Malaria and Tuberculosis. The main reason being that there have no access to clean water supply to the villagers concern.
In Selangor - the Pakatan Rakyat Govenrment gives out free water while in Sabah whose land and rivers are much bigger in size and availability, the state still has yet to develop means and ways to provide clean water supply to the poor people of Sabah what more Sabahans still have to pay for every single drop of water that comes out from the tap.
It is time to reflect and to take stock, the failure of the present govenrment in delivering basic need of mankind - health and water.

A Paradigm Shift of Multiculturalism.

There are none if any Bumiputera Malay leaders in Malaysia can truly embrace multiracialism unless he truly practise them in his political struggle. So far there is none other than Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim - the defacto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat. The other being the late Dato' Onn Jaafar. We have Chinese, Indians or even Indigenous Sabahans and Sarawakians plitical leaders whohave been championing through their political platforms and parties on multiculturalism but it seemed to have only attracted a certain segment of the community. I believe it takes a leader like Dato Seri who represent the largest racial community to finally once and for all - bring down the curtains of the political landscape that divide the race, religion and creed of our country over the last 51 years in Peninsular and 45 years in Sabah and Sarawak.
If Americans boleh, So Malaysia pun boleh. President Elect Obama in his victory speech repeated the phrase that has become synonymous with his campaign "Yes We Can..." In the face of statiscal and historical adversity, there were only 25% or registered voters in the USA are African Americans, OBAMA defiled expectations and proved that in being elected President. The United States of America is a nation capable of defining and electing its citizen based. "...not by the colour of the skin but by the substance of their character."
Dato Seri Anwar, once a strong proponent of racial based politics has NOW shown that the substance of his Character - is to unite all people of races, religion and creed under ONE political banner.

Revamp, Restore & Rebuild

The recent political upheaval in the world today like the changing of guards of USA President, New Zealand Prime Minister and also Our Malaysian Prime Minister, pointed to one true fact - PEOPLE's power. God has created Mankind to have a free will, and with this free will mankind has a conscience to empower and to elect leaders to govern the state with greater wisdom & transparency.
Therefore it is high time even in Malaysia, the urgency of a political check and balance. A Two Party System is already in the making between Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional. The destiny of the government is finally in the hands of the rakyat.
In this maiden post, I will continue to highlight and to address the system that we live in requires continuous revamping, restoring, so that together we can rebuild a better future for our generations to come.
